Rose Garden Box

What I have been up to this week

By on 29/04/2015

Since my last post which was a personal one, I have been busy in the craftroom creating items for my soon to be opened Etsy Shop.

I shall be creating one of these little altered matchboxes with a different theme each month.  This is my box for April and it is called “Rose Garden in a box”

The finished size of the box is 3″ x 2″ x 1″. I love miniature art and really enjoyed creating this little garden box.  There will be another to share in May.  And hopefully by then, I will be able to direct you to my Etsy shop to see all the things I have posted there.

I shall be making cards for sale and also card kits for those who like to put their own stamp on things.  You might also want to start a collection of my altered matchboxes. They would make a lovely gift too.

Happy 70th Birthday to Celia

By on 27/04/2015

A personal story from me today, because today, would have been my sister Celia’s 70th birthday. Sadly she passed away in January last year as a consequence of breast cancer. The photograph is a happy memory from 2012 taken on a summer’s day at a pub in England.

Dimpy and Me 2012

To have a sister is such a blessing, she was my best friend and my life has changed forever without her.  Although we lived on different sides of the world we spoke to each other most days. We shared diaries for 15 years, swapping four times a year and sharing our lives in those pages. So although we were apart we knew each other’s lives and thoughts very well.

I shall be celebrating her life tonight having dinner at a restaurant with my husband.

Celia (aka Dimpy), you are missed every day by me and your other brothers and sister.

Some See a Weed

What do you see?

By on 20/04/2015

I love to read quotes.  This one struck a cord when I saw it this morning because on my desk at the moment, I have a glass jar with a dandelion seed inside.  I captured it one morning in summer floating past my front door.  I saw a wish and decided to save it for later.

I find quotes inspiring and particularly like the earthy quotes of Brian Andreas. Do you have a favourite quote, something that inspires you or sparks your creativity? Why not share it in the comments below, I would love to start a page of inspiring quotes here.

By the way I also love Cookie Monster Quotes and Dr Seuss too.cookie monster quote for blog

 Have a lovely Monday.

A weekend Project

Dusty Attic ATC Box

I made this little 3D ATC box for my grandson.  You may be surprised at what I used to create it. I used a pre-cut  ATC box from The Dusty Attic. The only other items used are a pretty serviette/napkin, mod podge and a bit of imagination.

The finished size is 4 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ and I think it will look really cute sitting beside the bed.

I shall be running a class to make a similar box to this one in June.  If you would like to come along, please leave a comment and I shall get back to you.  Classes are in Croydon, Victoria.

If you would like a kit to make this little box at home in your own time, please contact me for more details.
